If you’ve ever gone camping in a VW bus, then you totally get how awesome a weekend camping trip can be. But Volkswagen has stopped production of camper vans here in the U.S., like the EuroVan. I asked my laid-back buddies at the most relaxed VW dealership in Palm Springs if they knew why this was. They let me know that they “…offer four different vans in Europe where this market is still strong. [They] do have vans in Asia and other parts of the world. But for North America, right now, the market is not too big. Instead [they] need to comply with [the] market and bring SUVs.”
Well, I was bummed when I heard this, because with two young boys, camping is starting to be the thing to do on the weekends! But, all hope isn’t lost, they let me in on why the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan features make it just the right ride to start a whole new outdoor tradition:
It Fits the Whole Family
Though it’s a compact SUV, the roomy Tiguan seats five passengers. This means that myself, my husband, our two boys, and a friend can all pile in and head to the redwoods! I may be an introvert at heart, but when it comes to camping, the more the merrier.
Leatherette Seats Are Standard
This is important, not just for looks, but for maintenance as well. Five people, five sets of dirty hiking shoes, spilled trail mix… and all types of juices, chocolate bars and energy bars, too. One wet sponge and the mess is done! Seriously, have you ever tried to get melted chocolate off a cloth seat? Nearly impossible without a steam cleaner.
There’s Room for Your Tent
I prefer to put a rack on top of my vehicles to stow the tent and other basics but, if you don’t want a rack on top of your 2016 Tiguan, no problem. With 23.8 cubic feet of cargo room in the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan while the rear seats are in use and 56.1 cubic feet with them folded, you’ve got plenty of room to stow the necessities for your weekend away.
It Has the Comforts of Home
Let’s admit it, we don’t do the “primitive campsite” stuff. At least I don’t. No dipping a rag into a bucket and calling it a shower for me, thanks. The 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan technology is fitting for the less primitive type of camping; it comes with a rearview camera, an eight-speaker stereo with a 5-inch touch-screen display, satellite radio, auxiliary and iPod connections. Available features include push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an eight-speaker Fender Premium audio system and a touch-screen navigation system. THESE are what I call “camping necessities.”
If you’re planning a trip this weekend, you may want to consider camping in a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan just to make it an adventure to remember. If you’re not in the market for a brand new car just yet, stop by Coachella Valley VW and check out all their used Tiguans for sale in California! They always have a bunch of great specials going on, so stop by before the summer ends; camping season is still in full swing!
